Legoland Discovery Center - Holly Jolly Holidays and Advent Giveaway!

Ever since Justin was old enough to hold a Duplo block in each hand, my family has been building with Legos. We currently contain 95% of them in the boys' room in buckets, on shelves and under dirty laundry, but there isn't a day that goes by that I'm not stepping on a random dot or rescuing a mini figure from underneath the kitchen table. So it stands to reason that my children all truly enjoy the Legoland Discovery Center in Schaumburg, IL.

As Christmas approaches, Legoland is decking their halls with a life-sized Lego Santa, various holiday games and wintry lego creations to build in the Lego Workshops. I can't wait to see how the venue gets decorated!

WHEN: December 9 to January 1

Doors open at 12 p.m. Mon. – Fri. and 10 a.m. Sat. – Sun.

Holiday hours begin Dec. 17 with doors opening at 10 a.m. Mon. – Sun.

  6. I have been a fan of their fb page, lots of great info!

My fav memory needs a little background. I grew up, wellllll into my teens a lego junkie. I have now passed on my collection to my oldest son, who is 4. He was asking for a new lego guy and cleaned out his piggy bank to see if he had enuff for one. So there we stood in the aisle, drolling together (old fan and new) and he asked to get the big pirate ship down so he could see it...what a moment as i remembered how long i asked for a pirate ship when i was younger and now looking in to the face of my own awe struck child, "mom! can we please get it for christmas????"

With 2 boys we have a ton of Legoes.
My favorite Lego memory is the creation my neighbor boy made at our house.Makes no sense to me as to what it is,but is special to my oldest son (14) because the 13 year old neighbor made it before he was diagnosed with leukemia, last year.I am not allowed to touch the creation,if it has to be moved,my oldest son very carefully picks it up and places it in it's new spot. The neighbor is doing great and the Lego art lives on.

  11. Well, I didn't really play with them growing up, but my kids LOVE them. Last year my oldest got this HUGE police station Lego set and he spent 3 days putting it together with my husband. He now guards it with his life in his room. BTW....the bathrooms in the station are complete with Lego toilets!
